The proven natural effectiveness of Prickly Pear oil, a Cactus-Derived Skin Protecting Ingredient

Prickly Pear oil from Morocco is one of the most effective natural rejuvenating ingredients in the world. Thanks to its high concentration of vitamin E and essential fatty acids, in particular omega 6, its anti-oxidant action creates an unbeatable natural shield to protect skin from premature ageing.

The result?

The skin’s own barrier works to maximum effect and the skin appears younger. As a bonus, soothing sterols fight skin stress that accelerates ageing.

Content of fatty acids

Oleic Acid 20.6%

Linoleic Acid 60.5%

 Stearic Acid 3.2%

Palmitic Acid 13.9%

 Tocopherol 895 mg/kg*

*(almost 150% more Tocopherol than Argan oil)

After researching the components of prickly pear seed oil, it is quite easy to see why it is gaining such popularity in the cosmetics and food industries. With large amounts of linoleic acid, Vitamin E, phytosterols, and polyphenols, prickly pear seed oil stimulates healthy cell production and turnover, provides protection, and helps skin retain moisture. These components make the oil an extremely rich and skin-nourishing oil. It soothes, hydrates, and reduces inflammation that can damage collagen, and it can prevent skin aging and wrinkles. Prickly pear seed oil’s cost may be worth every drop.

Whether you’re concerned about wrinkles, dealing with acne, or suffering through facial eczema, a natural and organic prickly pear seed oil is the product for you.

Argan Oil

Harvested from the trees that grow naturally in the wilderness, Argan oil is extracted from the kernel of the fruit of the Argan tree and we use the cold pressed process, to preserve all the benefits of oil. Nicknamed the “the tree of life,” this wild, thorny tree grows exclusively in southwestern Morocco.

Argan oil is very popular in the cosmetic industry. It’s used by many laboratories in their ranges for skin, body and hair care, as well as massage products. In fact, its chemical composition gives it many cosmetic properties. Its content of oleic acid softens and soothes the skin while giving it shine, whereas its linoleic acid content, an essential fatty acid, gives it hydrating properties.

Argan oil’s high vitamin E content may play a role in protecting skin from damage over time. Vitamin E’s an antioxidant. Antioxidants help to protect your body from cell damage due to free radicals. Free radicals are what contribute to the aging process, the development of cancer, and chronic diseases. Topical vitamin E may help reduce sun damage and decrease inflammation, stimulate skin cells which helps you restore a healthy layer of skin, making skin look shinier and fresh.

Argan oil is used by many people for hair loss, dandruff and to relieve symptoms of Eczema and Psoriasis.

It has a large amount of the omega-6 fatty acids, oleic acid, and linoleic acid. These fatty acids are what really work to help skin and hair lock in moisture.

Argan oil helps in the treatment of dandruff. Even better, if combined with argan oil shampoo. For hair loss prevention and the stimulation of new hair growth, it is incredibly important to maintain a healthy scalp environment. The dandruff fighting and moisturising nature of argan oil helps do just that.

Other compounds present in argan oil, such as CoQ10, melatonin and plant sterols, also play a role in its antioxidant capacity.

What they're saying

Dermatologists

"It soothes, hydrates, and reduces inflammation that damages collagen, which explains why it's used to prevent skin aging,"

Dr. Joshua Zeichner

Dermatologist at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City

“Prickly pear seed oil is a highly moisturizing oil derived from a cactus. It’s rich in essential fatty acids, omega-6 and -9, and vitamin E—additionally offering antioxidant protection from free radicals, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial properties. It’s also high in amino acids, which stimulate collagen production and promote faster cell turnover. And it contains vitamin K, which contributes to skin elasticity and some believe it may help brighten under-eye circles. It softens the skin and gives a luminous glow''

It’s often used for anti-aging since it’s packed with antioxidants, vitamin E, and essential fatty acids. It’s also rich in amino acids which can help to stimulate collagen production, as well as vitamin K which is known to brighten the skin and reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation. It also contains piscidic acid, a potent antioxidant that plays a role in UV protection.''

As a hair loss shampoo the application is pretty simple.

Just wash your hair with the shampoo as you normally would and let it soak for a bit longer than you would a normal shampoo.

As a topical solution after showering, just towel dry your hair and place a few drops into your fingers. Gently massage your scalp in a circular motion for about 10 minutes. This will help cover your entire scalp and allow the oil to penetrate the skin, increasing blood flow. After this, you may apply your styling product or treatment.

While Argan oil is not a miracle cure for hair loss. It is an incredibly good treatment option to maintain both scalp and hair health.

As far as treatment goes, whether you are using a hair loss shampoo, topical solution or ointment.

Argan oil will go a long way in helping maintain the health of the hair you have.

Many people suffering from pattern hair loss need to realise that combating the hair loss issue consists from two main parts,

maintaining the hair you have left and of course regrowing the hair that has been lost.

USAGE

Eczema and psoriasis can cause itchy, dry, and flaky skin. Argan has the ability to add moisture and help skin retain it, so the oil may also help relieve irritating symptoms.

Argan oil is also believed to help shield hair from sun damage. This is probably because of its antioxidant properties. The plant sterols in Moroccan oil may also have a protective effect against cancer.

THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS

The fruits are picked by hand, thoroughly cleaned and sorted. Seeds are removed and naturally dried. Properly stored, the dried seeds await extraction or cold pressing of the oil – mechanical, without chemical preparations. A 100% natural oil or extra virgin oil is thus obtained.

OIL EXTRACTION OF CACTUS SEEDS

Oil extraction from cactus seeds is a long process. It takes 1 tonne of fruit, in which there are 25 kg of seeds, to produce 1 litre of oil, since each seed contains only about 5% oil.

The oil contains high concentrations of tocopherol (vitamin E) and essential fatty acids (linoleic acid or omega 6). Opuntia oil contains more tocopherol than any other oil available in the cosmetic industry. It contains 150% more tocopherol than, for example, argan oil. Tocopherol is a powerful antioxidant and an anti-free radical scavenger.
